Skincare and Makeup

Welcome Back!!

So it's been an entire week since my last post and apologize greatly, but its been one crazy, hectic week. But no worries, I have everything planned out for the next two weeks and then we should be back to a normal posting schedule. Today I though I would tackle skincare, thanks to the idea from Danyzell, as well as my basic daily makeup routine. Now I'm not one of those girls who gets up every morning with the idea of looking like a princess, perfect makeup, perfect hair and perfect clothes. I put on what I will feel comfortable in throughout the day and do my basic makeup look, which is the one I will be showing you today. However, when I have special events in my life or am just going out with friends I do a little more with my makeup and will be showing you guys those looks as well farther down the road. So, lets get started.

Face wash - I have mentioned on here before that my mom works for Clinique so most of the products that I use come from there, but do not let price keep you from trying them. They work wonderfully, especially the cash wash, making your face incredibly clear. I use the three step face wash for oily skin, and my face has been felt better. It gives you a sense that it's really working even after you wash it off which I have never felt with any other product.

Base - Also all Clinique products, I use a variety when it comes to setting the base for my makeup. The picture below is in the order I use them. The first is the gel-emergency cream that I use when I can feel a pimple coming on (the best product I have ever used for this). The next two are pimple cover up and pore minimizer, something I desperately need thanks to my GIANT pores. Finally I use liquid, as well as powder, foundation just to make sure there is a nice, even coat covering everything.

Blush - Although you usually cannot tell, I do wear blush. It's actually one of my favorite things to do when applying makeup. Two Lancome and one Clinique product are shown below and these are the only products that I use when it comes to blush.

Eyeshadow - Besides mascara, eyeshadow is the makeup product that I own WAY too much of, but the pallet and liquid shadow shown below are the ones I love the most, and yes both are Clinique. The pallet is designed for those with hazel/brown eyes and works well with anything that I may be wearing.  The brushes were included and actually work very well.

Mascara/Eyeliner - I feel think these two are the things that really make my eyes pop! I already have ridiculously long eyelashes so when I add mascara is even better. I love the high volume Clinique mascara that is in the middle and is the one I use the most. Eyeliner is however the only product that I do not buy from Clinique, and the ones pictured below are simply from Target.

Lips - Now I am not a person who uses lipstick, at least not quite yet, but I do like to add a pop of color to my lips. To start I use Baby Lips in Cherry Red, then covered with Plum Rum Clinique lip shine. It has a thicker texture than lipgloss but not quite as think as lipstick. It adds color and shine, but doesn't feel heavy on my lips.

Perfume - I always have to finish my look with at least some type of scent. I have WAY too many from over the years because I constantly buy them. Below are my absolute favorites. Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Charlotte XO, Moonlight Path, and Love Spell. The ones in the back are for a lighter scent when I'm just going to class, while the ones up front are for work, parties or just going out with friends.

And here is the finished product…

Also I thought I would show you guys the makeup brush holders I made over the summer. They are old candle jars that I removed all the leftover was from, then covered in modpodge and rolled in glitter. By filling them with coffee beans my entire room always smells so good. If you guys would like me to do a post showing you how to do this, I would be happy to!

Thanks for reading, and I'll see you guys next time!

Pinterest - Dream Closet

Welcome Back!!

Continuing on with sharing my Pinterest boards with you, today I will be covering my 'Dream Clothes" board. Now when people see me in class or just walking around campus they usually see yoga pants and a t-shirt, something that I am comfortable doing anything in. If I'm going to be sitting in classes all day, I want to be comfortable so I can pay attention. But I promise you I really do own cute clothes, which I wear to work and save for days when I want to look really good. However, in the dead of winter I never want to look good, all I want to do is lay in bed and watch Netflix. Soon spring and summer will be rolling in and that's when they real fun can happen. There are so many more possibilities when deciding what to wear! So after that rant most of my pictures today will be clothes that are spring and summer related.

Cozy

Being comfy doesn't mean I can't express myself! The shirts above could not explain my life any better, and I'm ashamed, as well as proud of myself, for not ordering any of them. If I did, I would never wear any of my other clothes ever again. But it's good to just have those days where you relax in sweatpants and a comfy shirt, a time to unwind and not worry about impressing anyone.

Dresses

I am a girl who LOVES to wear dresses, and as soon as spring and summer dresses start coming out in stores, I couldn't be more excited. Each dress is so unique and can have so many different options with shoes, jewelry and hair styles. I feel as though dresses are one of the easiest ways to express your style, while still looking absolutely adorable. My two favorites above have to be the two with the bows, once again my obsession has snuck into a post.

Tops

Summer is the time of tans, late nights and memories - the time to show some skin. Tank tops are my favorite things to wear in the summer, they're so versatile and easy to pair with so many outfits. Also, they can be worn throughout the entire year by simply pairing them with a cardigan or jacket. And I added in the baseball shorts above because they are just too cute!

Bathing Suits

One of my favorite things about spring and summer is buying a new bathing suit! Each year so many cute styles come out, but this year I am really loving one pieces, and no not just because I'm chubby. Two pieces can only be so original, but with a one piece so have more fabric with which to create something beautiful. Easily, my favorite one is the bottom left; absolutely in love!!

Remember guys these are only a small, small glimpse of what is on my 'Dream Closet' board on Pinterest. So to find out more about my style, and to see what else I love check out my profile, the link is off to the right!

Bucket List - The Beauty of Abandoned Places

Welcome Back!!

Everyone has their own bucket list of adventures, tasks or even movies to see before they die, and giving you a glance into what my bucket list consists of will be another recurring post throughout this year. To start things out I chose one of my favorites, abandoned places, and my desire to visit and explore so many of them. Abandoned places have such a sense of wonderment, in the midst of decay, which to me brings out their true beauty. Being able to be in the presence of such places and image what used to happen and how it came to be a lost memory is the number one task on my bucket list. However, since I am currently not in the position to be able to travel the world and discover these places I constantly look through already photographed miracles and below are some of my favorites.

Most people find these places frightening and would never step foot even close to them, but to me these majestic places hold memories and untold stories that I want to uncover.

What I Learned This Week 1/13/14-1/18/14

Welcome Back!!

One new thing that I will be doing this year is a recap of the interesting things I learn each week, and what better time to start than after my first week back at school? Some may be education related, friendship/relationship related or even just random facts that I come across, so each week will definitely be interesting. So lets begin…

1. My love/hate relationship will a syllabus.
I am 19 years old and this is my fourteenth year in school, teachers and professors need to understand that I have been able to read since I was five and that if I have questions I will come ask them. Why waste an entire class discussing something that I could read on my own?? This drives me even crazier now that I am in college because by this point in their lives students should not have to rely on their teachers to tell them absolutely everything. If they don't take the initiative to read the syllabus and find out what is due and when, then they deserve to fail. People are not going to hold your hand through your entire life, so you might as well learn to walk alone now. However, I do love syllabi because they keep me on track and help me manage my time, but that is only because I take the time to thoroughly read each one and understand what responsibilities I will have in that class.

2. I will always love Indiana basketball.
On Tuesday I had general admission tickets to the Indiana vs Wisconsin basketball game, where Indiana won 75 to 72, and also where I lost my voice for the following two days. It was easily in my top five times that I have gotten truly anxious, excited and angry during a sporting event, and for people that know me that happens with every game I watch, no matter what the sport. And with such a hectic schedule the games are always time when I can just relax with my friends and, usually, let my pent-up anger out.

3. I love snow, but hate the cold.
Since I was a little kid I have always loved the snow, watching it fall and covering everything in a bright, white blanket. In the dead of winter when there are no leaves on the trees and everything is dead, snow brightens up my day by adding a little beauty. However, when it snows continuously all week when I am having to run all over campuses for classes and activities I become less fond of it. If it could snow at 30 degrees with no wind it would be perfect, but that's never how it happens.

4. Hot Pockets are actually good.
Never in my life did I think I would eat a Hot Pocket and actually enjoy it, but thanks to the cold and snow I gave in and ate one this past week and my eyes have been opened to a new high-calorie, unhealthy world that I will definitely be visiting again. I'm not proud to say that I like them, but dear lord they are good.

5. You're never too old to revisit the past.
This past Friday night, a time when college students go out to parties and relax from their stressful week, my best friend and I had another idea in mind. Being the cool kids that we are we decided to stay in, paint our nails, play IU Monopoly, order pizza and watch The Princess Diaries 2. Honestly, it was one of the most relaxing nights that I've had in awhile and a nice change of pace to my usual weekend activities.

This week I will also be adding another task to my "Year of Firsts," successfully completing inventory at my job. As much as I hear people complain about this task, i'm actually looking forward to it, mainly because it is something that is routine. My OCD comes out quite a bit when completing a routine task, so hopefully all goes well.

What's In My Bag?

Welcome Back!!

For awhile now I've been wanting to do a video about what's in my bag thanks to the suggestion from Danyell, whose blog is linked below! So, since my purse was getting ready to burst I thought I should finally clean it out and show you guys the process.

Make sure to check out Danyell's blog for even better posts covering fashion, friends and being your own person!

Music Monday - Current Mood

Welcome Back!!

I know I haven't been keeping up-to-date with Music Monday posts but now that school has started again, so will the regular posts. This week's music post will consist of songs that have been describing my mood lately - energetic, bubbly, and lively!

I have been listening to this song everyday for the past week and I still cannot get enough. The beat instantly brightens my mood, plus Jason Derulo is probably one of the sexiest human beings alive. P.S. his dancing might be the greatest thing I've ever seen.

After 'Wake Me Up' was such a success I didn't know that I would ever like another Avicii song as much, but this definitely comes close. The combination of pop and folk makes it different than anything I've heard lately and it brings out a very romantic side in me.

Over Christmas break I watched The Great Gatsby for the first time, and now it is one of my favorite movies. Hearing this song throughout the movie at so many different tempos makes me like it even more. The romantic feeling throughout just puts me in such a relaxed mood.

I know three songs is quite a small music post for me but you'll be getting much more this week including music, style, tv and more! So keep checking back!

Pinterest: Shoes

Welcome Back!!

Over to the right side of this blog you can see little icons to click on that will link you guys to my various social media sights, and one of those just happens to be Pinterest. Discovering Pinterest just last year, it quickly became an addiction that mainly distracted me during boring classes and times when I should be doing homework. So as a way to encourage you all to follow me on Pinterest and make your own account if you currently don't have one I will be creating posts that cover all of my boards on Pinterest (I have a lot, so bear with me).

This first week I chose to do shoes, something I feel everyone has a soft spot for. These will only be a tiny, tiny, TINY, sampling of all the shoes I have on my Pinterest board, so feel free to follow me to see the rest. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Basic Shoes
I am one of those girls who will be wearing stilettos one day, then Nikes the next, so when I say "basic shoes" I basically mean everything in the range of tennis shoes, Sperry's and casual flats. You can never have too many pairs of shoes, especially shoes that work for every occasion. The shoes above are some of my favorites because they are so simple, I could wear them with sweatpants, but also dress them up.

Boots

What's more of a girls best friend during chilly weather than boots? Being so versatile, boots are a staple in any closet, especially the ones pictured above. They can be so simple with leggings, edgy with studs or dressy with a skirt and tights. Also, while you're looking super fashionable in your boots, your feet are staying warm throughout these frigid temperatures.

Heels

What girl doesn't love a good pair of heels? We all have those times where we just need to feel sexy, dress up, go out with the girls and have a blast. The one thing that makes those nights even better, a great pair of heels. A simple black heel can be used for years, but never recreating the same outfit. And every secret Cinderella needs a pair of sparkly heels, right?

Sandals

Even though we are the farthest thing from spring and summer, I still feel the need to constantly look at super cute sandals. Any pair of shoes that I can show off my tan and pedicure with in the summer is a pair of shoes that I love. And if I didn't already love bows on clothing, my obsession with bows on shoes is even worse. Honestly, who doesn't want those starfish sandals in the middle?

The shoes shown above are not even 1/8 of what my shoe board consists of on Pinterest, so to see more of my shoe style please click the link to the right and follow me. I'm on constantly so you'll always see something new!! Each week I'll be posting pictures from a new board on Pinterest and if you have any ideas for boards I should start please let me know!

What I Learned Over Christmas Break

Welcome Back!!

Now Christmas break is supposed to be a relaxing time away from all the stress of school and work, but even with all of my couch lounging I was able to learn a few things. Having almost three weeks with basically no responsibility I took some time to look at my life and how I was really living. My priorities were what I expected them to be, but I realized I was living for the wrong person; everyone else. My life is just that, MY life. It shouldn't matter what opinions others voice about my attitude, my clothing, my relationship, my choices, etc. All that matters is my happiness and keeping the ones I love safe and happy.

The following video shows some more interesting things that I learned over Christmas Break, so watch and enjoy!

The song playing throughout the video is, "Take Back The Night," by Justin Timberlake. I do not own this song or any of the rights.

Snow Day!

Welcome Back!!

So this video is easily the worst I have ever done, but with 10 inches of snow on the ground our wifi has been acting up and I haven't been able to do everything that I wanted. You'll still get a chance to see what my family and I did over the Snowpocalyspe! The little children you will see are my cousins and one of my favorite parts about coming home is getting to see them. I've watched them grow up over the past ten years, which really makes me feel old, but they have all turned into such great kids and I'm blessed to call them family. I hope you enjoy the horrible video, and no worries, I'll be back to my normal level of videos and postings once I get back to school!

A Year of Firsts

Welcome Back!!

So the title of this post is 'A Year of Firsts,' meaning that this year I will be branching out from my comfort zone and trying all types of new things. It could be as simple as a new food, or as drastic as skydiving (don't know if I'll go that crazy!). I want 2014 to be a year that stands out in my memories later down the road as a year that challenged me, a year that I conquered.

But before we get into all that, I wanted to show you guys a little of what my New Year's Eve consisted of. Robbie and I went to a Great Gatsby themed party, and since I had not yet seen the new movie, that was of course the first step. Saying I loved it would be an understatement. I now understand what all the hype was about and it made me even more excited for the party. It wasn't some huge blowout party with 200 people and a keg, but a really nice way to gather friends over the break and have a great time.

So back to the reason I wanted to do a year of firsts. At midnight on New Year's Eve I got my first ever  New Years kiss!! Now it may just be because I'm one of those sappy, romantic types of girls, but I have wanted a New Years kiss all my life, and I couldn't be happier that it was from the guy I love.

Another first that has already happened over the past three days of 2014 is just a goofy one, but something that has honestly never happened to me before. While showering I ran out of shampoo before conditioner. Having accomplished two things in three days seems pretty awesome to me and very promising for the year ahead.
